Toledo Streets is a street paper with a mission to empower individuals struggling with extreme poverty to participate on a new level in the community through self-employment, job training, and contributorship.

Vendors

If you are interested in becoming a vendor,  or if you have information regarding a Toledo Streets vendor, please call 419.825.NEWS (6397) or email amanda [at] toledostreets [dot] org.

If you’re wondering about the person(s) you’ve seen selling Toledo Streets around town, here’s a brief overview of our vendor program:

Vendors are individuals who are currently or formerly unhoused. They attend a vendor orientation session (about an hour long) to learn about the paper, how and where to sell it, and sign our Vendor Code of Conduct. They then receive a temporary badge and five free papers to sell. After those five papers, they purchase each paper for 25 cents. After a month of selling the papers, they receive a badge with their name and photo. In addition to selling the paper, vendors may also find themselves in the paper themselves, as either a contributing writer or an interviewee.

Successful vendors work hard – they’re out in all kinds of weather for hours on end, maintaining a positive attitude, to sell the paper. We at Toledo Streets hope that next time you encounter a vendor you support their hard work and buy a paper – if you haven’t already.
